Move Your Workout Indoors
One of the easiest ways to stay consistent during a Blythe summer is to move more of your exercise indoors.
At Body Zone Gym, members have access to cardio equipment, strength-training machines, free weights, cable equipment, and other training options in an air-conditioned facility.
If most of your exercise normally happens outside, summer can also be a good time to try something different.
You might spend more time strength training, use indoor cardio equipment, or simply shorten your outdoor activity and finish the rest of your workout inside.
Work Out When It Fits Your Schedule
During the summer, timing can make a big difference.
Some people prefer exercising early in the morning. Others would rather work out later at night. People who work outdoors may simply want time to cool down before heading to the gym.
Body Zone members have 24-hour access, so your workout does not have to depend on office hours.
If early morning works best for you, you can train then.
If late evening works better, that works too.
The goal is to make exercise fit your life instead of forcing your life to fit the gym’s schedule.
Make Hydration Part of Your Routine
If you spend part of your day outside in the Blythe heat, think about hydration before you ever start your workout.
Bring water with you, drink regularly, and pay attention to how you feel.
You also do not have to make every workout your hardest workout.
Some days, maintaining the habit with a shorter or easier workout is the better choice.
Try Strength Training
If summer limits some of your usual outdoor activities, it may be a good opportunity to spend more time strength training.
You do not need to know how to use every piece of equipment before you begin.
A basic workout might include:
- One lower-body exercise
- One pushing exercise
- One pulling exercise
- A core exercise
- A little cardio
Once you become comfortable with those movements, you can gradually add more.
What If You Don’t Know How to Use the Equipment?
This is one of the most common concerns people have before joining a gym.
You are not expected to walk in already knowing how everything works.
If you have questions about a machine or piece of equipment at Body Zone, come by while we are in the office. We are happy to answer questions and help you understand how the equipment works.
Our staffed office hours are:
Monday through Thursday
2:30 PM-6:00 PM
We are also building a library of Body Zone equipment guides and YouTube videos that will demonstrate the actual equipment inside our gym.
Instead of searching for a generic video and hoping it matches the machine in front of you, you will be able to find information about the specific equipment you are using at Body Zone.
